The objective of this program is to provide First Nations youth with a safe and structured training environment that will assist them in securing eventual employment in the natural resources industries. We hope our participants will graduate our program not only in possession of these skills, but also with a newfound sense of confidence and an awareness of their full capabilities.
The program runs for seven weeks, from early July to late August. Our program supervisory staff maintains complete control over daily work and training schedules, meal times, recreation time and curfews. Over the course of the program, participants are exposed to the various challenges and demands of working in the natural resources industries, and are provided the opportunity to obtain a vast array of skills and certifications required for future employment. Participants receive periodic evaluations throughout the program to ensure that safety guidelines are being upheld, and to track their individual progress. Feedback mechanisms and positive reinforcement are used to maximize productivity and skill development.
